Art in the Home Confirmed Artist - Sarah Waterhouse
Do you or your interiors need cheering up? Then let Sarah Waterhouse come to the rescue with her new collection of fabrics inspired by ‘the hundreds of houseplants' she has at home. “My work is usually inspired by nature or the architecture around Sheffield but I’d never done anything about nature indoors before so I thought I’d give it a try.”
Pumping up the boldness of her signature small-scale geometrics, Waterhouse has created a range of upbeat prints for cushions, lampshades and upholstery fabric that will bring restored bits of furniture back to life. “This is the first time I’ve been able to do everything in-house from making the print screens to the actual printing and experimentation,” says Waterhouse of her new studio within Yorkshire Art Space. “It means that everything is evolving at a much faster pace.”
Take the opportunity to view Sarah’s work as part of our Art in the Home Exhibition from the 1st - 10th November 2019 at Kommune in Sheffield city centre. Art in the Home is a selling exhibition of Mid-Century design classics brought to you by Studio 2021 mixed with the very best of Sheffield’s furniture makers, ceramicists and fine artists.
