Art in the Home Confirmed Artist - Mike Carter
“Each one is unique. A limited edition of just one,” says Mike Carter of the Lino prints that he makes using an old cast iron press in his Exchange Place studio. The prints, which feature ‘mythical’ landscapes and beguiling portraits of an unknown lady (“I don’t know who she is; maybe somebody from my past”), are truly Modern in their economy of line and bold use of colour.
Indeed, the Wembley-born mixed media printmaker is something of a master colourist who is just as convincing with calming, pebble-hued neutrals as he is with the clash of bright yellow, pale pink and fuchsia. We especially love his use of those tones you might find in a Mid-Century interior: moss green, rusty browns and warm greys with highlights of orange and teal.
Take the opportunity to view Mike’s work as part of our Art in the Home Exhibition from the 1st - 10th November 2019 at Kommune in Sheffield city centre. Art in the Home is a selling exhibition of Mid-Century design classics mixed with the very best of Sheffield’s furniture makers, ceramicists and fine artists.
