Art in the Home Confirmed Artist - Lisa Burrows
What is it that attracts you to the art you love? Is it the colours, the texture, the escapism of a dreamy landscape or the bold lines of abstraction? For those who are fans of Lisa Burrow's art the answer is simple: it's the family dog.
Lisa has perfected a spinning process using hairs collected through the brushing process to create a yarn with which to work with and knit keepsakes. Starting with miniature bears she’s gone on to create scarves, bracelets, keepsake hearts and other knitted animals including owls, rabbits and reindeer for devoted owners.
“My inspiration behind Thread Bears has to be my dog Viggo. He is a Finnish Reindeer dog and as you can imagine very hairy indeed. I used to save his brushed out coat when I groomed him thinking that one day I would do something with it”.
Lisa’s initial inspired idea has proved popular and she now finds herself knitting bears for people in Italy and Sweden as well as the UK. For those interested in immortalising their own faithful four legged companions prices for Lisa’s knitted hearts start at £40 whilst the bears start at £100.
Take the opportunity to view Lisa’s work as part of our Art in the Home Exhibition from the 1st - 10th November 2019 at Kommune in Sheffield city centre.
